Brilliance Bookies

I am a Bookie. For the Brilliance Audio softball team. We are an audiobook publishing company, hence the name "Bookies". This past week we had our last game. We were in the position to take all the marbles, so you can imagine this was a nerve-wracking game.
It started a little rough...the other team scored 2 runs in the first inning. Then we were up and didn't score any. The next inning we held them, but they didn't let us get any runs either. The third inning is upon us and they score another 2 runs, and then they hold us. It's 4-0. We are losing. I start to think we may be defeated. The next inning we hold them and then we score 3 runs! The fifth inning no one scores for either team.
The end of the game is getting closer.
Sixth inning is here before we know it and we don't let them score. We have a couple of great hits and score 3 more runs, one was my contribution!! We are now up by 2 runs, all thinking we might actually pull this off, but stranger things have happened. The top of the seventh inning starts and the other team is at bat. After what seems like the longest inning ever, we get the 3rd out...
We didn't let them score.
WE WON!!!!!!!! We won the championship!!!!!! We will be taking the 1st place trophy back to BAI with us!!!!!!!!!! We do the usual hi-five's with the other team and then start our celebration with cheering and doing The Dougie. We all began to grab our water bottles and prepared to soak our coach, who willingly accepted the shower since it was 90 degrees and probably 100% humidity. This victory tasted so sweet! In the 3 years I've played this is the first time we actually won. It was then onto Odd Side Ales for some celebratory beers, where we also did more of The Dougie, drank from the trophy, and reminisced the season. Greatest way to end the season, way to go Bookies ... we did it!!!!!!!!!!!!
